Description

The demonstrator applies Artificial Intelligence to images of nuts to detect foreign bodies. Foreign bodies are those elements that should not appear together with the food in a production line because they reduce the quality of the product or are dangerous for consumers.

Innovative aspects

This project has been used to validate the smart camera with the software developed by Logicmelt, optimizing our software and integrating it all into a single device that performs scene illumination and AI image capture and processing at the same time, saving costs and facilitating installation compared to PC-based systems or multiple devices. This milestone represents a major step for Logicmelt in its effort to simplify and optimize the use of AI with Edge processing technology.

Pilot implementations

It has already been installed in a kiwifruit producing and marketing company and is used to detect the correct labeling of the packaging and the early detection of breaks in the packaging bags.
